Navratri Puja at Home: A Nine-Day Guide
August 17, 2026
Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana: a kalash of water is placed on a bed of soil sown with barley and worshipped for nine days.
Each day is dedicated to one form of Durga. Many devotees keep a fast, eating only sendha namak, fruit, kuttu and sabudana, and read the Durga Saptashati.
On the eighth or ninth day, Kanya pujan honours nine young girls with food and gifts. If you can't perform the puja yourself, a pandit can do so online with your sankalp.
