What is a Nakshatra?
The zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras (lunar mansions) of 13°20' each. Your birth nakshatra is the one the Moon occupied at birth, and each nakshatra is split into four padas (quarters).
The birth nakshatra sets the starting point of the Vimshottari Dasha, the traditional first syllable of your name, and several of the factors used in Kundli matching.

Accuracy
Positions are computed with the JPL DE421 ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa, accurate to roughly an arcminute. A planet sitting within an arcminute of a sign or nakshatra boundary can land on the other side of it, so treat borderline results as a starting point for an astrologer, not a final word.
